Dr Garrett E Eriksen

Dr Garrett E. Eriksen is a historian and conservationist who grew up on the Cango Wildlife Ranch, immersed in wildlife from an early age. After earning an MSc in African Studies at Edinburgh University and a PhD in History from Stellenbosch University—he returned to his first passions: conservation and storytelling. Now, as the media producer and podcast host at the Cango Wildlife Ranch, he blends his expertise in research, filmmaking, and science communication to engage global audiences. Having travelled to over 55 countries across six continents, he brings a broad perspective to wildlife conservation. Through The Conservation Station podcast, he shares his passion for the natural world, exploring the challenges and triumphs of modern conservation and inspiring listeners to appreciate and protect our planet’s diverse ecosystems.

Kerri Wolter

Kerri Wolter is the founder and director of VulPro, South Africa’s leading vulture conservation organisation. With over 21 years of experience in vulture research, rehabilitation, and advocacy, she has dedicated her life to protecting these critically endangered birds.


Under Kerri’s leadership, VulPro has become a global authority in vulture conservation, tackling threats like poisoning, habitat destruction, and power line collisions. She is a passionate advocate for education and public awareness, working to change the negative perceptions surrounding vultures and highlight their essential role in ecosystems.


Kerri’s groundbreaking work has earned her international recognition, including a nomination for the 2025 Indianapolis Prize, often called the Nobel Prize of Conservation.

Mike Denison is the Senior Programme Manager at the Wildlife and Environment Society of South Africa (WESSA), with over 23 years of experience in conservation and environmental management. Passionate about species preservation and sustainable ecosystems, he leads key initiatives like pangolin conservation and the Green Coast Programme, promoting biodiversity and eco-tourism.

Mike’s work focuses on balancing human needs with conservation efforts, fostering community engagement, and advocating for sustainable practices. Under his leadership, WESSA has partnered with organisations like Pangolin.Africa to combat poaching and habitat loss.

Dedicated to education and environmental justice, Mike believes that conservation is about people caring for the earth. His expertise in wildlife protection, policy, and sustainability makes him a leading voice in South African conservation.
